Verizon Communications Inc. officials Friday were trying to determine how the complete channel lineup and pricing details for its FiOS TV trial rollout in Keller, Texas, made it onto the Internet.
Broadbandreports.com (www.broadbandreports.com) published two Verizon PDF documents Friday containing the channel lineup and package pricing for FiOS TV, which Verizon hopes to eventually market nationwide.
Verizon spokeswoman Sharon Cohen-Hagar said she did not know how Broadbandreports.com obtained the details of the programming lineup in Keller. She also wouldn’t confirm the details of the lineup, emphasizing that the Keller deployment is only a trial.
According to the documents, Verizon is offering a 160-channel expanded-basic lineup for $39.95 monthly, as well as a “La Conexion” 115-channel package that includes several Spanish-language channels for $32.95 monthly.
Basic cable -- which includes local over-the-air signals, education and government channels and Weatherscan Local -- costs $12.95 monthly.
The FiOS TV lineup groups networks by genre, including entertainment; sports; news; information; women; shopping; home and leisure; pop culture; music; movies; family; children; people and culture; religion; and movies.
Five ESPN channels, FSN Southwest and Speed Channel are the only sports channels included in expanded basic.
For an additional $5.95 monthly, subscribers get a programming tier that includes Fox College Sports, Tennis Channel, NFL Network, Fuel, The Outdoor Channel, The Sportsman Channel, Fox Soccer Channel, GolTV, TVG, Horse Racing TV, Mav TV, Blackbelt TV and G4.
For an additional $11.95 per moth, subscribers can get a movie package that includes 26 channels from Starz Entertainment Group LLC and Showtime Networks Inc.
Home Box Office, Cinemax and Playboy TV are each priced at $14.95 monthly, and subscribers can also opt to pay $24.95 monthly for both HBO and Cinemax.
FiOS TV also includes many free-video-on-demand programming choices, including sports content from ESPN, ESPNU, ESPN Deportes, Fox Sports Español, Fox Soccer Channel, Speed and Fuel.
Additional FVOD content is being supplied by nine Discovery Networks U.S. channels, SOAPnet, ExpoTV, Home & Garden Television, Do It Yourself, Fine Living, A&E Network, Cartoon Network, Total Hollywood TV (movies), ABC Family and Black Family Channel.
FiOS TV customers will also get FVOD content from several kids’ programmers: Kids Unlimited, Disney Channel, Toon Disney, Radio Disney, Jetix, Backyard, Mainstreet, PBS Kids, Scholastic and Boomerang.
Pay VOD movies will cost $3.95 apiece.
