The Telecommunications Industry Association said Thursday that spending on high-speed-data services will rise 30.5% in 2004 versus 2003 levels.

The TIA's "2004 Telecommunications Market Review and Forecast" pegged spending at $17 billion in 2004 and predicted that it would reach $24.8 billion in 2007.

Looking at cable modems specifically, the TIA sees subscribers totaling 22.4 million in 2007, up from 12.9 million at the end of 2003, with service revenues growing from an expected $8.4 billion in 2004 to $10.5 billion in 2007.
