NBC U Digital Thinks in Threes

NBC Universal Digital Distribution created three groups to spearhead the company's efforts and promoted three executives to head them.

In the reorganization, NBC U Digital formed the Digital Platforms, Wireless Platforms and Digital Sales groups. Michael Bonner, Salil Dalvi and Ron Lamprecht were named to lead these respective areas, effective immediately.

They will all report to NBC U Digital Distribution president Jean-Briac Perrette.

Bonner was promoted to senior vice president in charge of Digital Platforms. He previously held the title of VP of new media for NBC U Cable. Bonner will lead NBC U's television-content strategy and development across multiple digital platforms, including on-demand, electronic sell-through, interactive television and Internet-protocol TV.

In the past year, Bonner spearheaded NBC U's market-leading presence on iTunes and led the development of industry-leading interactive applications for the Torino Olympic Games and the U.S. Open.

Dalvi was promoted from VP of digital media to general manager of Wireless Platforms. Over the past three years, Dalvi has been responsible for leading the NBC U TV Group's entry and growth in the mobile-content market.

He previously led the successful launch of NBC Mobile, the industry's first made-for-mobile network-news offering, and the origination of NBC U's efforts on MediaFLO. Dalvi is leading the launch of two new NBC U linear mobile channels and will oversee these services.

Dalvi will also continue to manage the growth strategy, product development and operations for NBC U's mobile-content efforts. NBC U has launched a broad slate of wireless video and other mobile and interactive content from its top news and entertainment franchises including Today, Saturday Night Live, The Office and Project Runway.

Lamprecht was been promoted to senior VP of NBC U Digital Distribution, in charge of Digital Sales. He previously held the title of VP of new media for NBC U Cable, reporting to Perrette. Lamprecht will oversee digital sales and distribution of NBC U's television content to Internet portals, wireless carriers, emerging digital companies and nontraditional customers.

Most recently, Lamprecht executed a number of industry-leading distribution deals on emerging platforms including the distribution of two new mobile channels on MediaFLO and Verizon Wireless and the licensing of Universal film content to iTVN, Wurld Media and mSpot, among others.

In addition, Bonner, Dalvi and Lamprecht will continue to support the NBC U Television Networks Distribution team, led by president Bridget Baker, in delivering NBC U's digital products to the cable, satellite and telco multiplatform-distribution customers.
