10/09/2007 6:31 AM Eastern

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office awarded Integra5 a patent for a system that lets a TV viewer hear a caller leaving a voicemail message and then have the option of picking up the call.

U.S. Patent No. 7,277,445, granted to Integra5 on Oct. 2, is titled “Call management via television.” The patent describes a telephone call-management system allowing for a voicemail message being recorded for a specific telephone to be played on a TV as it is being recorded. Then, optionally, a user can command the system to reroute the call to a telephone and also to record any call.

Integra5, based in Burlington, Mass., said it now holds 10 patents in countries including Australia, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Israel and the U.S. The company has additional patents pending in the U.S., China, Japan and the European Union.

Integra5 has landed deals for its TV Caller ID application with cable operators and telco TV providers in 13 deployments worldwide. Customers include Knology, WideOpenWest and Comporium.
