GFC Acquires Two Cos., 270 Techs

General Fiber Communications Inc. said Friday that it has acquired First Line of Boston and LB&L Cable.

The additions boost the fulfillment provider’s field force by 270 technicians and expand its market presence to include service to Time Warner Cable in Memphis, Tenn.; Charter Communications Inc. in Dallas and Denton, Texas, and Gilroy, Calif.; Adelphia Communications Corp. in West Palm Beach, Fla., and Orange County, Calif.; and Comcast Corp. in Boston.

“These acquisitions strategically expand GFC’s nationwide footprint and enhance our ability to best serve the needs of MSOs,” vice president of business development Ken Stess said in a prepared statement.

“The technical talent that was gained will help to further our reputation for seamless service, quality and safety,” he added.
