Arris Makes Networks Feel Secure

2/13/2004 2:33 AM Eastern

Arris Group Inc. Thursday announced the formation of the "Arris Global Network Security Management Threat Center."

The center, located in Chicago, is the home base of a resource team to help operators combat virus attacks and other security threats to their networks, Arris said.

It will be staffed around the clock by engineering personnel who will take calls from operators with deployed "Cadant C3" and "C4" cable-modem-termination systems that might need help.

"Unfortunately, network security threats like the recent ‘SoBig’ virus, ‘MyDoom’ worm and [Microsoft Corp.] Windows software flaws are becoming more widespread," Arris Broadband vice president of marketing Stan Brovont said in a prepared statement.

"Our customers selected Cadant CMTS products because of their carrier-grade attributes and unparalleled density," he added. "We have now established this rapid-response engineering team to enhance our carrier-grade support to assist customers in anticipating and responding to network-security threats as quickly as possible."
