Second Powell Aide Migrates to Team Murdoch

A second close aide to Federal Communications Commission chairman Michael Powell has left the agency to begin work at Rupert Murdoch's News Corp.

Paul Jackson, Powell's eyes and ears on Capitol Hill, joined the Washington, D.C., office of News Corp. about two weeks ago, News Corp. spokesman Andrew Butcher said Wednesday.

Jackson had been the FCC's deputy director of the Office of Legislative Affairs. News Corp. did not issue a release on Jackson's hiring.

Also Wednesday, DirecTV Inc., which is controlled by News Corp., announced that Susan Eid had been named vice president of government relations.

Eid, who left the FCC in August, had been Powell's top adviser on cable, broadcasting and direct-broadcast satellite issues.
