What’s Up At Intel?

LAS VEGAS — Among the various keynotes at this year’s International CES, there’s particular interest in the one coming from Intel CEO Brian Krzanich today (Jan. 6).

His company’s Intel Media division has been developing an ambitious and controversial over-the-top “virtual” MSO service, and it was previously expected that the 2014 CES would serve as a showcase for an offering that was reportedly to be called “OnCue.”

However, Intel Media missed its 2013 launch window, and rumors have been rampant in recent weeks that Intel, which has had trouble securing enough programming deals to underpin such a service, is closing in on a sale of its OnCue assets to Verizon Communications. However, no deal was forthcoming at press time.
