Do you miss having a markets page in each week’s Multichannel News?

No worries. There’s now a lot more information on how companies (and their chief executives) are performing, on Multichannel.com.

Debuting this week is a Financial Statistics channel, with up-to-the-second prices on publicly traded cable, telephone, satellite and other companies in the communications and electronic entertainment industries. The link is found at the top of the listings for Channels, on the right side of the site’s home page.

In fact, if you want a single measure of the health of these companies, you simply need to click onto the Multichannel Multimedia Index, which combines stock prices from more than 50 industry players, ranging from cable system operators to programming suppliers to wireless network operators.

The Multichannel Multimedia Index is immediately compared to the main broad indices of stock performances — the Dow Jones Index, the S&P 500 and the NASDAQ — on the statistics area’s Market Summary page. You can readily see there the top gainers, top losers and most active stocks of the day, as well as news updates on overall market performance.

Readers can also browse separate pages dedicated to each of five industry sectors: Cable Operators, Programmers, Equipment Suppliers, Telephone Companies and Satellite & Wireless. These sector pages include stock listings on companies ranging from Motorola to Comcast, as well as company-specific news releases from PR Newswire and Business Wire.

Want to see how CEOs are faring? Check out the “CEO Wealthmeter” page, which each day gauges how fluctuations in stock prices impact the leaders of technology companies by calculating the value of the shares they own in their respective companies.

The data, supplied by FinancialContent Inc., also contains reports on foreign currencies and stock markets; and a set of investment, credit card and mortgage calculators.
