TNT Tops in Primetime for Week

Turner Network Television wore cable's primetime diadem last week, easily outdistancing Nickelodeon.

The drama network averaged a 2.2 March 15-21, according to an ABC Cable Networks Group analysis of Nielsen Media Research data. Kids’ kingpin Nick scored a 1.9, while USA Network and Disney Channel were knotted in third with a 1.8.

TBS Superstation and Lifetime Television were next, each with a 1.6. Rounding out the top 10: Cartoon Network at a 1.5; Fox News Channel and Sci Fi Channel with a 1.4 apiece; and MTV: Music Television, Discovery Channel and Comedy Central, all with a 1.1.

Only 0.2 rating points separated the next 10 networks. A&E Network and The Learning Channel finished just off the pace with a 1.0. They were followed by a massive logjam, as The History Channel, ESPN, Court TV, Spike TV, FX, TV Land, Hallmark Channel and Home & Garden Television all posted 0.9 marks last week.

For HGTV, the network averaged 800,000 households for the week, its best-ever primetime performance.
