Cable Sets Share Mark

The first week of the summer TV season proved to be the strongest in terms of viewer share in the history of basic cable.

According to a Turner Research analysis of Nielsen Media Research data, ad-supported cable grabbed a 60.3 share of primetime viewing from May 30-June 5.

That compares with a collective 30.7 share for ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC, and a 34.3 when UPN, The WB Television Network and Pax TV are added into the mix, according to the Turner analysis.
