Adult Swim Draws Blood for New Series2/27/2007 10:02 AM Eastern
Adult Swim will bleed popular anime film Blood: The Last Vampire to create a new original series dubbed Blood+, premiering March 10.
The half-hour series, from executive producers Hideo Katsumata and Mitsuhisa Ishikawa, revolves around a young woman with amnesia who, with the help of family and friends -- and an attack by a “chiropteran” vampire -- remembers her past role as vampire killer and accepts her role battling the chiropterans that have plagued Japan for centuries.
The announcement comes on the heels of a record-breaking viewership month for the network. Adult Swim posted basic-cable records for its time period (Monday-Thursday, Saturday 11 p.m.-6 a.m. and Sunday, 10 p.m.-6 a.m.) for adults 18-34 (460,000 viewers), adults 18-24 (280,000) men 18-34 (283,000) and men 18-24 (169,000), the network said.
