iFilm Inks Acacia Deal

8/23/2004 3:26 AM Eastern

Acacia Research Corp.’s Acacia Technologies unit said Monday that it has reached a license agreement for its “Digital Media Transmission” technology with iFilm Corp. (www.ifilm.com).

“Each month, iFilm is recognized as one of the top streaming companies on the Internet,” Acacia chairman and CEO Paul Ryan said in a prepared statement. “We are pleased to have iFilm as a licensee because it further demonstrates the execution of our strategy to sign license agreements with all of the leading streaming companies.”

Acacia announced license deals last week with B&C Cablevision in Florida, Boulder Ridge Cable TV in Colorado, Seren Innovations Inc. in Minneapolis and Central Valley in California, but the vendor still has patent-infringement suits pending against Comcast Corp., Charter Communications Inc., Cox Communications Inc., EchoStar Communications Corp. and DirecTV Inc.
