CNN.com (www.cnn.com) set a single-day page-view record on Election Day.

Akamai Technologies Inc. said Wednesday that its content-delivery platform helped Cable News Network’s Web site to deliver more than 670 million page views in the 24-hour period beginning at 4 p.m. (EST) Nov. 2, marking a presidential-election record for the site.

More than 8.9 million visitors accessed CNN.com Nov. 2 and 3.

"CNN.com is committed to ensuring a superior experience for our audience," CNN Internet Technologies senior vice president Monty Mullig said in a prepared statement.

"Akamai's ‘EdgeSuite’ service for delivering Internet content complements our existing infrastructure,” he added. “We have always recognized Akamai as a leader in content delivery, and their relationship with CNN.com helps us to deliver the most reliable, high-performance online news service."
