VeEX Snaps Up Sunrise Telecom Assets

Deal Will Expand VeEX’s Line of Cable, Telecom and Wireless Test and Monitoring Gear 6/03/2013 2:22 PM Eastern

VeEX announced Monday that it has inked a deal to acquire substantially all of the operating assets of Sunrise Telecom, marking a purchase that further consolidates the world of broadband network test and measurement equipment.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but VeEX said the proposed deal covers Sunrise’s product lines, trademarks, intellectual property and associated assets. Pending shareholder approval, VeEX and Sunrise expect to complete the transaction by the third quarter of 2013.

VeEX, whose core products target DSL, broadband, cable and metro networks, said the purchase will accelerate its growth and strengthen its presence in the cable and telecom markets.

San Jose, Calif.-based Sunrise claims to have more than 2,000 customers in more than 65 countries. Products in its lineup include the CM3000, a verification and tester of DOCSIS 3.0 upstreams and downstream, the CM3800 Sweep System and DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem Network Analyzer, and realWORX Web, a product that monitors return ingress levels, analog signal performance and QAM performance.

Products in the VeEX cable lineup include the VePAL CX380 1GHz Spectrum Analyzer, VePAL CX350 DOCSIS 3.0 Analyzer, and the CX180R Return Path Ingress monitoring and Return Path QAM Analysis system.

In May 2012, the last time Sunrise reported earnings, the company posted revenues of $7.1 million, down from $8.1 million in the year-earlier quarter, and a profit of $100,000, versus  a year-earlier net loss of $900,000.
