Verizon Customers Can Dial Up Weather

7/01/2004 5:30 AM Eastern

Weather information from The Weather Channel is now available to subscribers of Verizon Wireless’ newly launched “Mobile Web 2.0” service, the two parties announced Thursday.

Current conditions and exclusive extended forecasts for 98,000 worldwide locations, along with weather-related regional news articles detailing the weather's impact on cities throughout the United States, are included in the offering.

Users can also save their favorite locations in order to easily retrieve timely reports for their hometowns, frequent business destinations, weekend vacation spots and other cities of interest, the two companies said.

“Through this new application, our customers will always have important weather information at their fingertips, customized for their wireless devices, to help them stay one step ahead of ominous storms and severe weather,” Verizon Wireless vice president of wireless Internet and multimedia services Jim Straight said in a prepared statement.
