Sets Nick Choice Sports Awards Event 3/13/2014 12:57 PM Eastern

Nickelodeon will increase its live action series lineup with three new original shows, Nickelodeon officials announced Thursday prior to its upfront presentation in New York.

The kids-targeted network will continue its push to reach post-millennial kids with the development of live action series, including new crime-fighting comedy Henry Danger, which follows a 13-year old who lands a part-time job as a sidekick to super crime fighter Captain Man; Bella and the Bullfrogs, which follows a cheerleader who eventually becomes the new quarterback for her school team; and Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, which follows the story of a 10-year-old girl whose sibling rivalry with her three brothers is heightened by the fact that they are quadruplets.

“Each of these projects brings fresh humor and relevancy to our kid audience and each has a unique voice and point of view that is exciting,” said Russell Hicks, Nickelodeon president of content development and production.

The network will also extend its popular Kids Choice Awards franchise into sports, launching this July the Kids’ Choice Sports 2014 awards show, hosted by Michael Strahan.

On the digital front, Nickelodeon will launch the Nick Jr. App, which will offer video and content featuring popular Nick Jr. characters such as Dora The Explorer, Bubble Guppies, PAW Patrol, said network officials. The ad-supported  app will be available free for iPad devices through the App Store.
