TV One Signs ESPN.com Editor Shannon Cross As 'News One Now' Anchor

Cross To Join Host Roland Martin On News/Public Affairs Show 12/04/2013 10:12 AM Eastern

TV One has hired ESPN.com editor Shannon Cross as news anchor for its live daily news program, News One Now, network officials said Wednesday.

Cross will serve as a contributing voice of the daily morning news broadcast, narrating both breaking news briefs and lengthier feature segments beginning Dec. 9, said the network.  Additionally, Cross will join News One host Roland Martin in his analysis of the day's headlines, discussions with on-set panelists, Skype-net interviews, social media integration and standing segments.

Cross most recently served as an editor, reporter and on-air personality for ESPN and associate editor for ESPN.com. Since joining the sports network in 2005 she has interviewed athletes such as Magic Johnson and Tiger Woods. She made her on-air debut alongside Good Morning America host Robin Roberts as a social media correspondent for ESPN's live-broadcast “Image of the Black Athlete" National Town Hall in 2011.

"We are delighted to have Shannon join the News One Now family," said Donna Wilson, Executive Producer, TV One in a statement. "Her multifaceted editorial experience makes her an excellent counterpart to Roland … their shared passion for viewer interaction and social media integration make them an ideal on-air pairing for this fully immersive, multiplatform show."
