Sí TV Adds Spate of Originals

4/13/2005 6:22 AM Eastern

English-language Latino network Sí TV announced nine new original shows at its upfront presentation Wednesday.

The network said it now offers a total of 19 original programs.

“These new programs follow in the Sí TV tradition of delivering edgy, unpredictable and irreverent content to viewers,” chairman and co-founder Jeff Valdez said in a prepared statement. “We are proud to be able to offer these signature programs that will help us continue to build and keep our base of loyal viewers.”

Sí TV senior vice president of ad sales Steve Levin added, “The new shows offer advertisers new and unique opportunities to reach this valuable market of assimilated Latinos who represent 60% of Hispanic spending. And because these shows, and all of our programming, are entirely in English, they have the potential to generate greater audience appeal that will resonate with the general market.”

The nine new shows are:

LJL, Laugh Out Loud, which exposes new comedians as they perform sketches before a studio audience.

Fish Outta Water, in which “a group of pencil necked geeks are transplanted from their paper-pushing jobs to the great outdoors.”

Friend or Fan?, a game show that lets you discover who knows a celebrity best: the celebrity’s closest friend or their ultimate fan.

Party with Miss Bacardi, in which model, socialite and Bacardi heiress Carolina Bacardi hosts a “behind-the-velvet-ropes” look at the glitz and glamour of Hollywood nightlife.

Jammin’, a reality series that lets up-and-coming garage bands jam with their musical idols.

The Movie Twins, 90-second sponsored interstitial segments covering the latest in movie news.

Road Whores, a reality series about the adventures of “three Latino working comics scraping out a living on a humbling tour of one-nighters.”

SLAM, which will expose performers who will compete in freestyle rapping, dancing, spoken word, street art and head-to-head comedy “to see who’s got the ultimate street cred.”

Urban Jungle 2: Straight Into Compton, in which 12 spoiled suburbanites “will kiss their cell phones and Beemers goodbye and cram into a house to experience life in Compton.”
