Outdoor Channel Adds Six New Series to Q1 Slate

Network Lifts Total to 79 Shows in Period 12/31/2013 11:11 AM Eastern

 

Outdoor Channel is adding a half-dozen news series to its expansive first-quarter programming offering, buttressing its Monday, Friday and Sunday lineups.

The premieres of Heartland Waterfowl, The Hunt for Big Fish with Larry Dahlberg, Modern Fishing with Jared Jeffries, NRA All Access, Territories Wild and The Obsession of Carter Andrews will lift Outdoor Channel’s first-quarter series roster to 79, a total that includes shows starring such network favorites as Ted Nugent, Michael Waddell, Michael Bane, Lee and Tiffany Lakosky, Mike Pawlawski, Jim Burnworth and Jim Scoutten

“Outdoor Channel strives to offer quality programming to satisfy the outdoor entertainment appetite and enthusiasm of our growing audience,” said Jeffrey Wayne, executive vice president of programming at Outdoor Channel. “With our winter and spring lineup, we are offering a wide range of new and returning reality-based, character-driven, competition-intensive and instructive content featuring our top-rated celebrity and endemic talent and notable guest appearances.”

Kroenke Sports & Entertainment purchased Outdoor Channel in May for $267 million.

Deubting Friday Jan. 3 at 7:30 p.m., The Hunt for Big Fish with Larry Dahlberg stars the angler visiting rarely seen corners of the globe. Each installment is highlighted by a workshop segment where he shares fabrication techniques for do-it-yourself tackle-makers.

The Obsession of Carter Andrews puts his uncontrollable desire to find and catch the biggest fish with the lightest and toughest tackle on the planet on full display. The show premieres on Sunday Jan. 5 at 10 a.m.

Former NBA player Jared Jeffries’ zest for the hardwood is matched by his interest in saltwater fishing. In each episode of Modern Fishing with Jared Jeffries, he will share angling tips, tricks and techniques, and assist viewers with vistas of exotic fishing destinations. The show tips off on Sunday, Jan. 5 at 3:30 p.m.

In NRA All Access presented by Taurus, hunting couple Matt and Jessie Duff take a comprehensive look at the role the NRA plays in important Second Amendment issues and the outdoor lifestyle. The series, premieres Sunday, Jan. 5 at 10 p.m. (ET) will introduce viewers to the NRA’s relationship with entertainers, athletes, veterans, and everyday Americans who share a passion for gun ownership and the shooting sports tradition.

Outdoor Channel’s Monday night lineup has been enhanced by Heartland Bowhunter, which follows the lives of Michael Hunsucker and Shawn Luchtel, who team with Midwest waterfowlers Ronnie Philips and Logan Burditt in tracking the migration of birds through the Central and Mississippi Flyways at 9:30 p.m. Leading out at 10 p.m. is Territories Wild, a fast-paced documentation of Tom Miranda’s global bow hunting adventures.
