L&O: CI to USA, Bravo12/02/2004 9:46 AM Eastern
Bypassing the traditional broadcast platform, Law & Order: Criminal Intent will find its syndication home on USA Network and Bravo starting in the fourth quarter of 2005.
The deal, terms of which were not disclosed, covers the entire production run of Criminal Intent, produced by Wolf Films and NBC Universal Television.
An NBC Universal spokeswoman said USA holds the Monday-Friday rights, but it can also it air the show on weekends, when Bravo will run encore editions.
USA already repurposes CI on Saturday nights, 10 days after the show premieres on the “Peacock.” The general-entertainment network took a similar tack with L&O: Special Victims Unit, repurposing the other member of the L&O franchise before it began stripping the show.
"The Law & Order series has been hugely popular both in originals on NBC and in rebroadcasts on cable. Criminal Intent is a well-written, high-quality show that has been a vital part of the NBC schedule for the past four years. I'm thrilled that we are keeping it in the family, said Jeff Gaspin, president of NBC Universal Cable Entertainment and Cross-Network Strategy, in a prepared statement.
