Lifetime has renewed its dramedy series Devious Maids for a sophomore campaign, the network announced Tuesday.
The Marc Cherry and Eva Longoria-produced series that follows the exploits of five close-knit maids and their employers has averaged 2.5 million viewers through this past Sunday’s episode, according to Lifetime. Devious Maids is the network’s fastest-growing drama ever, and its 18% Hispanic composition nearly doubles Lifetime’s primetime average, the network said.
“One of the most daring series on television, Devious Maids has quickly become a hit … we are very proud of the show and are delighted to continue our partnership with Marc Cherry, Eva Longoria, Sabrina Wind, ABC Studios and Televisa USA,” said Lifetime Executive Vice President and General Manager Rob Sharenow in a statement. “I am thrilled we are bringing Devious Maids back for a second season to lead our scripted slate in 2014.”
