LG Plugs in M-GODreamWorks Animation/Technicolor-Backed OTT Service Joins LG’s Smart TV App Lineup 9/04/2013 8:43 AM Eastern
M-GO, the DreamWorks Animation/Technicolor OTT video joint venture, has added another big CE partner to its stable after launching an on LG Electronics Smart TVs
M-GO, offered as an app in the LG “Smart World” store, works on 2012 and 2013 LG connected TVs, and has been integrated with LG’s “Magic Remote,” which uses Hillcrest’s motion control navigation software.
“By working with LG, we’re proud to remove obstacles to finding the best entertainment, helping consumers get one step closer to enjoying their entertainment on their big screens at home,” M-GO CEO John Batter said, in a statement.
The deal with LG quickly follows one struck between M-GO and another major TV maker, Vizio. M-GO also runs on iPads (via the Safari browser), Android devices, Samsung Smart TVs (2012 and 2013 models), on major PC Web browsers, and Vizio Co-Star media player, and Google TV. M-GO also supports the UltraViolet digital rights authentication system/digital locker.
M-GO, launched earlier this year and considered a competitor to Vudu and iTunes, offers a library of movies and TV shows that can be rented or purchased in standard- and high-definition format.
M-GO on Wednesday also introduced “Plus,” a feature that lets customers create and organize personalized media “Cards,” or lists, with their favorite shows, movies, actors, and directors. M-GO also lets users create up to six individual profiles.
