Juris Prudent for Court TV’s Youth Movement

8/19/2004 8:48 AM Eastern

As part of its effort to court a younger audience, Court TV has hired Fuse president Marc Juris as its general manager, officials said Thursday.

Emmy Award-winner Juris -- a veteran of not only Fuse, but AMC -- starts at Court TV Nov. 3. He will oversee programming, production, creative services, marketing and corporate communications.

As GM, a newly created position, he’ll play a large role in brand building, strategic planning and program development, ramping up and expanding Court TV’s reality-show lineup, which launches this fall.

Juris will report to president and chief operating officer Art Bell.

“Marc is a branding maven with a tremendous track record of success, most recently at Fuse, which has offered the first real competition to [MTV: Music Television],” Court TV chairman and CEO Henry Schleiff said in a prepared statement. “Bringing Marc on board is certainly emblematic of the direction Court TV is going -- hip, edgy, young and cutting-edge.”

Bell will continue to oversee all day-to-day operations, as well as strategic planning, for Court TV.

During Juris’ tenure, Fuse made a splash by running in-your-face ads that often tweaked rival MTV.

“Marc has been a great asset to Fuse,” Fuse parent Cablevision Systems Corp. chief operating officer Tom Rutledge said in a prepared statement. “We will miss him and wish him well at Court TV. We have a remarkably creative and innovative executive team in place at Fuse that will continue to build on the network’s success as it moves forward.”
