HorseRacing TV Trots Out New Look

12/14/2005 9:34 AM Eastern

As part of a new graphics package, HorseRacing TV will present a new standard for information delivery beginning Dec. 26.

In conjunction with its coverage of the prestigious Santa Anita meet, HRTV will introduce an on-screen look that includes enhancements designed to increase the amount of handicapping data available to home bettors -- including race conditions and distance -- and an a 40% increase in the display area for live race feeds.

The new format, which also showcases results via a top-of-the-screen crawl, is designed to improve current viewing experience, while setting the stage for a transition to interactive television wagering in the future, according to network executives.

“HorseRacing TV’s multiple missions include improving the visibility and enhancing the popularity of thoroughbred, harness and quarterhorse racing, and to generate revenue for the racing industry and our cable and satellite affiliates,” said Jim Bates, senior vice president and general manager of HRTV, in a statement. “By delivering a comprehensive handicapping package in an attractive, simplified way, we are providing viewers with more of the information they need to place intelligent, well-considered wagers.”
