HBO Revises Red Sox Documentary

Home Box Office will tip its hat to the Boston Red Sox by revising its Emmy Award-winning sports documentary, Curse of the Bambino, to reflect the team’s first World Series win in 86 years.

The revised show will bow Dec. 10, network executives said.

HBO will inject 15 minutes of new footage into the one-hour special, which initially chronicled the love affair of Red Sox fans with their hard-luck team, according to network executives.

The new content will reflect the team’s record-breaking, comeback victory over the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series and its four-game sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series.

"Red Sox fans have passed through generations without enjoying a World Series parade in Boston," HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg said in a prepared statement. “Now we have an ending to this gripping 86-year-old story, and it is time to revise our documentary. We want to celebrate the last chapter in their story."
