GSN Playing Dodgeball, Blackjack Again

Los Angeles -- GSN peppered pundits with news items during its presentation at The Critics Association summer press tour Friday.

The service has ordered second seasons of its Extreme Dodgeball and Celebrity Blackjack series. The former Game Show Network will also look to tap the billiards arena with a new show.

Network officials said 40 celebrities will compete for $1 million in prize money that will be donated to charity with the second round of Blackjack, the initial season of which concludes Aug. 9 at 10 p.m.

As for Extreme Dodgeball, GSN and production officials will be scouting for teams and individuals from dodgeball leagues in five markets come November in advance of the start of its sophomore season, slated to begin airing in January. The championship of the current campaign will air Aug. 3 at 10 p.m.

GSN has retained Stone Stanley Entertainment (The Joe Schmo Show, The Man Show) as executive producer of American Dream Derby, its reality horse-racing series that will debut in January. The series will culminate with a live horse race from Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif., Feb. 21.

GSN also said it has entered into an agreement with SokoLobl Entertainment to develop Ultimate Pool Challenge, a nine-ball pool tournament series featuring top pool sharks who will participate in a winner-take-all tournament of “No-Limit Pool.”

The network also said it would offer a dual feed beginning Sept. 27, splitting the U.S. into Eastern and Central time zones, while the new feed fuels telecasts in the Mountain and Pacific regions (Alaska and Hawaii will also get the latter).
