GSN Gets Average Joe, Dog Eat Dog

3/10/2004 9:26 AM Eastern

GSN, the network for games, continues to broaden its programming roster, acquiring the rights to a pair of reality shows from NBC Enterprises: Average Joe and Dog Eat Dog.

The cable network heretofore called Game Show Network will bow the shows in late spring, according to a network spokeswoman.

The agreement, terms of which were not disclosed, gives GSN the rights to the first two seasons of game show Dog, 26 episodes in all, and relationship series Joe. The cable network also said it has the option to pick up the third season of Joe, which is currently in production.

The acquisitions precede the network’s rollout of a host of new shows in the 10 p.m. hour beginning March 15, including originals GSN’s World Series of Blackjack; Fake-a-Date, hosted by Joe Millionaire’s Evan Marriott; and Kenny vs. Spenny, which features a pair of friends vying in absurd contests of physical endurance and mental toughness.

The network also plans to run The Mole and hidden-camera show Spy TV in that time slot.
