GolTV Serves 5-Part Special Ahead of River Plate-Boca Junior 'Superclasico'

GolTV is setting the stage for the upcoming battle between top Argentinean clubs River Plate and Boca Junior.

The hybrid futbol network – it presents soccer coverage in English- and Spanish-language feeds – will air a five-part documentary-style special ahead of its presentation of the Superclasico matching Boca Junior and River Plate on Oct. 28.

Titled Los Caminos de una Pasión (Two Teams, One Passion), the series is GolTV’s first documentary-style special to profile an Argentinean league match in network history. A new episode will debut each night beginning Monday, Oct. 22 through Friday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. (ET).

The five half-hour shows will showcase the history of River Plate vs. Boca Junior, going beyond the field to examine the stories associated with the rivalry and impact the series has had on each Buenos Aires neighborhood. The show will also feature interviews with past and current players and coaches, and incorporate video packages from previous “Superclasicos.”

“Offering viewers unprecedented access, this exclusive series is an opportunity for GolTV to deliver new programming that further establishes the network as the number one destination for real soccer fans,” said GolTV COO Rodrigo Lombello in a statement. “Whether producing original content, broadcasting more live matches than any other network or connecting with fans online, GolTV is always looking to engage our passionate viewers and quench their strong desire for top soccer from across the Americas.”

In addition to airing the the week’s top match every Sunday from the Argentine Football Association, GolTV also broadcasts Futbol Argentino, a half hour-long program featuring highlights and analysis on Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m.  The network also holds the rights to a dozen Argentina national team matches as the squad prepares for the 2014 World Cup.
