Showtime got on the scoreboard at the 64th Primetime Emmys, as the pilot for terrorist series Homeland won the statue for outstanding writing for a drama series.

Alex Gansa, Howard Gorson and Gideon Raff garnered laurels for the pilot of Homeland, which is hopeful of winning a number of other awards. This was their first nominations and the inaugural win for the premium network in the category.

The trio beat out the writers behind a trio of AMC Mad Men episodes: "The Other Woman" and Far Away Places (Semi Chellas and Matthew Weiner for both); "Commissions and Fees" (Andre and Maria Jacquemetton); and the seventh episode of Downton Abbey (Julian Fellowes).
