Creating Interactive Experiences

5/25/2007 8:00 PM Eastern

Ty Ahmad-Taylor, 39

MTV Networks

Ty Ahmad-Taylor has made a career of creating interactive experiences for a variety of companies. Now, as vice president of product development for MTV Networks, he shapes strategy and guides product development for the MTV, VH1, CMT and Logo online brands.

But he started out in The New York Times’ graphics department.

“I have always seen the value of both creating content and owning the means of distribution,” Ahmad-Taylor said. “Innovating in the cable and digital spaces has been fulfilling precisely because we are able to reach large audiences through both media and distribution.”

After The Times, he joined the @Home Network, where he became creative director in 1997.

He later served as chief creative architect for MetaTV, where he led the design of iTV portals for Comcast, Cox Communications and Echostar Communications.

As director of strategic planning in Comcast’s broadband group, he shepherded wireless strategy, as well as interactive content and applications. He also later served as senior director for cross-platform applications at Comcast.
