Comcast will use next week’s Cable Show to introduce Comcast Wholesale, a rebranded and reorganized group that incorporates businesses that were formerly part of the Comcast Media Center, including HITS, Content Solutions, AdDelivery, as well as IP Services, a former standalone unit that provides data and voice services.
Matt McConnell, a former exec of Level 3 and AOL exec, is heading Comcast Wholesale as senior vice president and general manager. McConnell is also late of tech startups such as Troppus Software and MovieFree.com, and Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Booz Allen Hamilton and Accenture.
McConnell’s leadership team consists of vice president of business operations and strategy Jeff Vogt; VP and GM of the Comcast Media Center (formerly Content Solutions) Richard Buchanan; VP and GM of HITS Leslie Russell; and VP and GM of IP services Barry Tishgart.
A spokesman said the Comcast Media Center will continue as the brand responsible for selling content solutions such as VOD and network origination to cable programmers and others in the content community.
“Building upon the technology, talent and longstanding commitment to serving the industry for which the CMC brand is recognized, Comcast Wholesale will continue to drive innovation in wholesale commercial markets as we develop and grow both existing and new product offers,” McConnell said, in a statement. “With its theme of ‘Accelerate the Amazing,’ the Cable Show is the perfect place to premiere our new brand, which will help to turn that vision into a reality for our industry customers.”
