Comcast Expands Silicon Valley PresenceMSO’s Innovation Center Now Employs About 250 Engineers 12/11/2013 6:51 AM Eastern
Comcast said it has expanded its Silicon Valley Innovation Center, a facility that has grown from 60 employees when it launched in 2011 to a one that now serves as the workplace home for about 250 engineers.
Comcast marked the occasion on Tuesday with an open house that featured product demos from several of the MSO’s tech partners, including Twitter, Altia Systems (a maker of video telepresence products), and the California Telehealth Network.
Sharing similarities to the recently opened CableLabs facility in the area, Comcast said its Innovation Center was established to build partnerships with local Silicon Valley startups and larger established companies, and to help the operator develop and commercialize new technologies and products, including X1 platform, the recently launched SEEiT platform, and the MSO’s Xfinity Home Security App.
The Comcast Silicon Valley Innovation Center is part of Comcast’s broader technology arm, Comcast Labs, which also operates development centers in Seattle, Philadelphia, Denver, and Washington, D.C.

This expansion will further our ability to innovate, attract top talent and forge creative partnerships, and I’m excited about the products and customer experiences that this will enable us to deliver going forward.”
