Bobcats Bench C-SET

6/28/2005 7:54 AM Eastern

The National Basketball Association’s Charlotte Bobcats will pull the plug on its regional sports network Thursday, AP reported.

Black Entertainment Television founder and Bobcats owner Bob Johnson launched Carolinas Sports Entertainment Television (C-SET) in October. The network also aired Charlotte Sting Women’s NBA games, original programming and college-sports fare.

C-SET was only available to some 600,000 Time Warner Cable digital subscribers, leaving basic-cable subscribers without the 60 Bobcats games it carried, AP reported.

“C-SET was intended to provide sports fans in the Carolinas with regional programming that they could not find anywhere else," Bobcats president Ed Tapscott told AP. "We are all proud of the great job the C-SET staff did in launching this network and providing compelling content for viewers in North and South Carolina."

The team added that the UPN affiliate in Charlotte, N.C., will air at least 15 games.
