AT&T U-Verse Launches Pac-12 Networks Trio

Telco Also Becomes Conference's Exclusive Wireless Sponsor 9/07/2013 4:37 PM Eastern

AT&T has reached a deal with the Pac-12 Conference under which it now carries three of its networks and is its exclusive wireless sponsor.

AT&T U-verse subscribers nationwide now have access to the main Pac-12 Network service in standard-definition on channel 759 and in high-definition on channel 1759. Moreover, Pac-12 Bay Area, featuring additional coverage of Cal-Berkeley and Stanford athletic events, is available on 760 SD and 1760 HD, while Pac-12 Los Angeles, showcasing USC and UCLA action, can now be found on 761 HD and 1761 HD.

The launches enabled U-verse subs to check out Pac-12 Networks’ second weekend of the 2013 college football coverage.

The conference recently secured wider network rollouts on charter affiliates Time Warner Cable and Cox Communications, and launched on a number of smaller distributors.

The Pac-12 Networks bow is the second in two days for U-verse, which on Sept. 6 added soccer-centric BeIN Sports to its lineup.

All told, U-verse TV subscribers across the country will have access to the more than the 700 remaining live Pac-12 events of the 2013-14 season on Pac-12 Networks. This includes 31 football games, 250 men's and women’s basketball games and hundreds of other sports, including baseball, soccer, gymnastics and more. Starting next year, Pac-12 Networks will increase its coverage to 850 events.

Also under the agreement, AT&T will provide the Pac-12 with a full package of wireless and wireline communications services, from high- speed Internet access to network integration and has marketing rights to all athletic events, including Pac-12 championships.

Students at member Pac-12 schools can also benefit from savings with AT&T’s wireless discount program

“Pac-12 Networks is thrilled to join AT&T U-verse’s line-up,” said Pac-12 Networks President Lydia Murphy-Stephans. “Pac-12 fans nationwide now have another great option to access an unprecedented number of live quality Pac-12 sporting events, live interviews, studio shows, and other feature content.”

Noted Chris Roy, vice president, government and education at AT&T: “We are thrilled to become a technology provider and the exclusive wireless sponsor for such a storied conference with a rich history of academic excellence and superior athletic achievement. Together with the conference and the 12 universities, we look forward to redefining the experience for students, alumni and fans attending Pac-12 athletic events.”
