AMC To Take Series Bite Out Of 'The Walking Dead'

Network To Air Companion Series To Successful Zombie-Themed Show 9/16/2013 12:04 PM Eastern

AMC will roll out a second companion series for its highly-rated scripted series The Walking Dead in 2015, the network announced Monday.

The new companion series will be produced by The Walking Dead comic producer Robert Kirkman as well as series producer Gale Anne Hurd and Dave Alpert, and will be based on the zombie-themed series, according to network officials.

The series will join AMC’s live post-show series The Talking Dead as offshoots of The Walking Dead, cable’s  most-watched series ever among adults 18-49.

“Building on the success of the most popular show on television for adults 18-49 is literally a no-brainer,” said Charlie Collier, AMC’s president and general manager in a statement. “We look forward to working with Robert, Gale and Dave again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters. It’s a big world and we can’t wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.”
