World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. has pinned India and the subcontinent for the next five years.
The company said Wednesday that it has reached a five-year deal with Ten Sports to bring more than 2,500 hours of first-run programming to the region.
WWE said the nine first-run hours per week of its original programming has become one of the hottest properties on Indian television, and it will be broadcast throughout India and the subcontinent.
“Ten Sports' experience with the WWE is that the programs appeal to every demographic sector of our viewer base, including some very surprising ones, such as housewives in India,” Ten parent Taj Television Ltd. CEO Chris McDonald said in a prepared statement.
“We look forward to building upon our successful partnership with WWE by introducing new and innovative promotional angles around the programs," McDonald added.
