Working for the Customer5/25/2007 8:00 PM Eastern
Fred Lutz, 38
For Fred Lutz, the customer is key. “Our industry, with its rapidly emerging technologies, commoditization and all of the excitement taking place within it are great,” he said. “However, making certain that everything is in place to enable us to provide the ultimate end-to-end customer experience is what drives the business, and that’s why it is fun to work at Charter right now.”
Before his recent promotion, Lutz served as vice president and general manager of Charter operations in East Tennessee and Kentucky. He has since assumed additional responsibility for the entire state of Tennessee. Lutz joined Charter in February 2004 as general manager of West Virginia operations.
A graduate of the University of Kentucky, he began his cable career in 1992 with Tele-Comunications Inc. in Chesapeake, Va., as director of government affairs and community relations. He continued working in various field operations and corporate roles at TCI until 2000. Lutz then became general manager of the Western division of Resort Sports Network in Summit County, Colo., overseeing its television stations.
