Savoy Resigns from Charter Board

4/27/2004 4:27 AM Eastern

Charter Communications Inc. chairman Paul Allen’s former right-hand man, Bill Savoy, cut his final tie with the billionaire, resigning from the St. Louis-based MSO’s board of directors effective April 23.

Savoy is expected to be replaced on Charter’s board by Vulcan Inc. CEO (and Paul Allen’s sister) Jo Allen Patton. Charter’s board is expected to meet Tuesday to vote on Patton’s nomination.

Savoy resigned from Vulcan, Paul Allen’s investment vehicle, in September, after speculation that he had a falling out with the Microsoft Corp. cofounder. He had been with Vulcan since 1988, and he was the architect of many of Allen’s investments, several of which went bust after technology stocks took a beating a few years ago.
