Scientific-Atlanta Inc.’s SciCare arm introduced its “Retriever” Thursday.
The vendor’s system-integrator, professional-services and consulting arm said Retriever gives cable operators more insight into subscribers’ viewership habits and helps them to better monitor set-top and network performance.
The two parts of Retriever are “Retriever Telemetry Diagnostics,” which allows performance data to be collected from set-tops so operators can proactively identify network and set-top problems before they occur or in response to previously reported quality-of-service issues; and “Retriever Viewership,” through which data can be collected based on subscribers’ clicks of set-top remotes.
Retriever is the newest member of SciCare’s operations-support-system family, joining automated-backup, disaster-recovery, revenue-assurance and voice-over-Internet-protocol-launch applications.
