RNC via VOD from Comcast, C-SPAN

Comcast Corp. will make C-SPAN’s extensive Republican National Convention coverage available on its “Comcast On Demand” video-on-demand service, the MSO said Wednesday.

The network will run live, gavel-to-gavel coverage throughout the convention, which will include approximately 20 major speeches, as well as the presidential and vice-presidential debates.

“Our VOD service lets viewers watch major convention speeches and the national debates if they missed them live, or if they want to view them at their convenience,” Comcast executive vice president David L. Cohen said in a prepared statement.

Added C-SPAN executive VP Rob Kennedy, “By giving viewers these resources, we're taking advantage of new cable technology to provide a valuable service to the nation.”

The RNC will be held Aug. 30-Sept. 2 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
