Cable Operators

Montgomery Leaving Comcast

11/15/2004 4:00 PM Eastern

Ann Montgomery, the longtime cable-operations executive who has been at Comcast Corp. for two years, is leaving at the end of November to attend to some personal matters, she told colleagues in an e-mail over the weekend.

“This was and has been one of the most difficult decisions to make in my life,” she said in the e-mail, adding later, there “are many personal priorities in my life that have arisen, and I am glad that I will have the opportunity to put these priorities first.”

She also said she hoped to be back at work in cable soon.

Comcast spokesman Bob Smith confirmed that Montgomery was leaving, officially as of Nov. 30, for personal reasons, adding that the company wouldn’t comment further. There was no word yet on a replacement.

Montgomery’s cable resume goes back to Tele-Communications Inc. in the early 1990s and continues through stints at TCI successor AT&T Broadband, Adelphia Communications Corp. and, since late 2002, as regional senior vice president in Comcast.

She operated out of the Southwest region, which includes systems in the Dallas area, New Mexico, Arizona and Southern California.

Montgomery received a “Vanguard Award” for cable-operations management at this past April’s National Show, and she just completed a two-year term as chairman of the Women in Cable & Telecommunications Foundation. The foundation’s Nov. 3 dinner raised more than $500,000.
