In Demand Offering Tyson Fight in HD

7/27/2004 9:08 AM Eastern

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson’s latest comeback fight, Friday against Danny Williams, will be offered in HDTV by In Demand, the pay-per-view provider said Tuesday.

In Demand said it will use SES Americom Inc.’s “AMC-1” satellite to deliver an HDTV feed of the bout throughout the United States.

"While In Demand and its 24-hour INHD and INHD2 high-definition-television channels are delivering continuous HDTV programming to growing audiences across the United States, this HD pay-per-view event will be a first for the cable industry," In Demand senior vice president of technology and operations John Vartanian said in a prepared statement.

“SES Americom delivers its own one-two punch when it comes to providing a reliable and advanced distribution platform for HDTV,” he added.

Tyson and Williams will meet at the Borgata Resort & Spa Hotel Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., Friday at 9 p.m. (EST).
