Cox Clicks On NBC Olympic Video-Mosaic Channel

With the 2012 Summer Olympic Games officially kicking off with Friday's opening ceremony, Cox Communications said it has added the NBC Olympic Spotlight interactive specialty channel, which will let the MSO's Advanced TV subscribers watch up to six live video feeds on a single screen.

NBC Olympic Spotlight provides a mosaic of live video panels from NBC, NBC Sports Network, MSNBC, CNBC, Bravo and Telemundo. Cox customers can toggle among the video panes to tune in to the audio, and then press "select" on the remote to choose a channel to watch full-screen.

Among other pay-TV providers, Verizon's FiOS TV and AT&T's U-verse TV services also are incorporating ITV elements into their Olympics offerings.

In all, NBCU is delivering 5,535 hours of multiplatform coverage of the 2012 London Olympics. Cox customers can access the programming live, on VOD, online, and via smartphone and tablet apps. In addition, Cox is offering 200-plus hours of the games in 3D.

Cox offers three specialty "Zone Channels" to Advanced TV subscribers as part of its interactive TV offering: the Kids Zone, News Zone and Sports Zone channels. NBC Olympic Spotlight will reside on the Sports Zone through the closing ceremony.
