Comcast Gives Oxygen Full Rollout in Chicago

Oxygen will be getting full distribution in Chicago, the hometown of one of the network’s co-owners and cofounders, Oprah Winfrey.

Comcast Corp. and Oxygen agreed to make the women’s network available to 1.4 million Chicago households, a regional increase of 800,000 subscribers.

“Oxygen is among the most requested networks by our customers, and it will make a great addition to the channel lineup in Chicago,” Joe Stackhouse, Comcast’s senior vice president for the Greater Chicago region, said in a prepared statement.

Winfrey lives there and does her original show for Oxygen, Oprah After the Show,from the metropolis.

“Chicago is such an important market for Oxygen,” chairman Geraldine Laybourne said. “It will give us more visibility in the advertising community, and one of our highest-rated shows originates from here.”
