Comcast Completes Chicago Upgrade12/14/2004 2:37 AM Eastern
Comcast Corp. announced Tuesday that its $350 million broadband-network upgrade in Chicago is done.
The MSO’s Chicagoland subscribers will now have access to advanced services such as video-on-demand, digital-video recorders and high-speed-data service at rates up to 4 megabits per second.
Comcast upgraded more than 10,000 miles of broadband plant in the Chicagoland area and built new routing centers. The MSO passes nearly 4.2 million homes in the area.
"Our employees have worked very hard completing this upgrade over the past two years to ensure that Comcast offers not only fast and reliable service to Chicago, but also the latest in home-entertainment technology," Comcast senior vice president for the Greater Chicago region Joseph Stackhouse said in a prepared statement.
