CableLabs Holds PacketCable Multimedia ‘Event’4/29/2004 6:24 AM Eastern
A clearer picture of some of the major vendors in the PacketCable Multimedia space emerged in a press release from Cable Television Laboratories Inc. about a three-day interoperability "noncertification event" held in late March at CableLabs' headquarters.
The event included cable-modem-termination systems from Arris Group Inc., Cisco Systems Inc. and Motorola Inc.; policy servers from Camiant Inc., Telcordia Technologies Inc. and CableMatrix; and application managers from Ellacoya Networks Inc., Syndeo Corp. and Telcordia.
PacketCable Multimedia will allow MSOs to deliver enhanced multimedia services, such as video communications or interactive games, through Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification 1.1 or 2.0 infrastructures.
CableLabs said the event allows manufacturers to work on interoperability objectives, accelerate product development and identify new technical requirements needed for PacketCable Multimedia.
