Lifetime Adds Pair to Friday Night Reality Block

‘Party’ Show, ‘Matt Titus: Matchmaker’ Join New Carson Kressley Series Jan. 4

By Kent Gibbons -- Multichannel News, 10/10/2007 7:37:00 AM

Lifetime acquired two new reality shows -- one with party planners and another with matchmakers -- for the second season of its new Friday night reality block, starting Jan. 4.

Lifetime said It’s My Party, featuring party planner Brian Dobbin, and Matt Titus: Matchmaker will follow the previously announced How to Look Good Naked, with Carson Kressley, forming a 9-11 p.m. ET/PT block.

Daniels said in a release: “Following the holiday season when everyone has celebrated a little too much, viewers will see how to change their body image with Carson Kressley, learn how to find a date with Matt Titus and witness how to throw an extravagant party with Brian Dobbin.”

Daniels is following up on Lifetime's biggest hit to date: this past summer's Army Wives, which returns for a second season this spring.

The first season of the block kicks off this Friday (Oct. 12) at 9 p.m. with the return of Lisa Williams: Life Among the Deadfollowed by the premiere of America’s Psychic Challenge at 10 p.m.

The Kressley show, announced at the Television Critics Association gathering in July, will air at 9 p.m., followed by the Matt Titus show at 9:30 and back-to-back episodes of It’s My Partyfrom 10-11 p.m.

Lifetime ordered 14 episodes of It’s My Party and seven episodes of the Titus show. It ordered eight episodes of How to Look Good Naked to make up the second season of the new Friday reality block.

It’s My Party follows elite party planners who throw extravagant, excessive parties and events for extremely wealthy clients. It showcases Brian Dobbin who, along with his volatile chef, Robin, create, design and execute wild bashes which are known as “the Bentley of parties,” for the influential Southern California elite. The second seven episodes will be shot in Las Vegas around another event planner. Each week, the episodes set in Orange County will air at 10 p.m. followed by the episodes set in Las Vegas at 10:30 p.m. Kevin Dill and Mechelle Collins are executive producers and the show is produced by Intuitive Entertainment.

Matt Titus: Matchmaker stars the relationship expert and “dating agent” who matches both straight and gay singles in New York City. Titus and his team, including fiancé Tamsen Fadal, attempt to expertly pair their oftentimes desperate clients who are unable to find a mate in the old-fashioned way – from singles bars and online dating to blind dates arranged by friends. Beyond the usual matchmaking, they also coachclients and give honest advice on wardrobe, hair and make-up. Mark Farrell, Mark Efman and Sara Chazen Leand are executive producers and the show is produced by MarkMark Productions.
