The Closer Finale Sets Record

TNT Series Draws 9.2 Million Viewers

By R. Thomas Umstead -- Multichannel News, 9/11/2007 1:28:00 PM

Turner Network Television’s The Closer finished its third season on a high note, drawing a record 9.2 million viewers to its Sept. 10 finale.

Monday’s one-hour episode bested The Closer’s own cable ad-supported network series episode record of 8.8 million viewers set this past June with the third season premiere of series, which stars Kyra Sedgwick.

The Sept. 3 episode of The Closer nearly bested the now former record, generating 8.1 million viewers.

TNT has already ordered 15 additional episodes for the fourth season, which is set to launch next summer.

“It’s hard to imagine a better track record for success than what we’ve seen with The Closer,” said Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks in a statement
