LATV Networks, rolling out a bilingual music and entertainment network on broadcasters’ digital multicast spectrum, said affiliate Post-Newsweek Stations had invested in it and received a minority stake.
Financial terms weren’t disclosed. But Post-Newsweek parent Washington Post Co., in a securities filing, lumped the investment into $14.6 million pumped into affiliates in the second quarter, including ACE Education and LATV Networks.
Post-Newsweek has launched standard-definition LATV programming on spectrum controlled by KPRC in Houston, an NBC affiliate; WPLG in Miami, Fla. (ABC); WKMG in Orlando, Fla. (CBS) and on KSAT in San Antonio, Texas, all of them in top-15 Hispanic markets.
LATV launched in 2001 in Los Angeles (WJLA spectrum) and started rolling out nationally in April 2007.
